Barrington- Marking a Milestone of Giving

A great community partnership now in its twenty fifth year, the Green Scholarship has awarded approximately $1,000,000 to Barrington students heading off to college. George and Evelyn Green were long time residences of Barrington where George worked as a woodsman and Evelyn generously gave to neighbors. The George B. Green Scholarship was established in 1993 under the will of Evelyn Green to ensure that their generosity would continue for generations of Barrington students pursuing a college education. Each year, the George B. Green Scholarship is awarded to between 20-30 students in awards ranging from $500 to $4,000. Preference is given to students pursuing degrees in the fields of nursing, medicine, and forestry. Barrington students have benefited from the philanthropic efforts of this couple and the scholarship fund will support these efforts for years to come.
